“Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul.”

Tutoring privately 1:1 for the last six years, Anna has had the privilege of teaching students of mixed ages and abilities, piano, singing (classical, jazz and popular styles), and music theory. Experienced with teaching young learners and adult learners, Anna has an adaptable teaching style to maximise the learning experience for each individual student, and keep the learning process enjoyable and progressive.
Qualifications and Background:
Anna’s background is Classical, for both voice and piano. Her formal studies started in 2007 and she attained ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music) grade 8 awards in Vocals and Piano in 2015 & 2016. She then continued her training at King’s College London as part of her Bachelor’s degree in music, graduating with a first class honours in 2019. Over the last ten years she has been a member of chamber choirs, church choirs, wind-bands, jazz bands, orchestras and smaller ensembles.
In 2019, Anna worked full-time as a peripatetic music teacher for a Rock Music School, teaching around 400 children a week in primary schools across Essex and Hertfordshire. Sessions were conducted with groups of ten students at a time, teaching them popular songs on guitar, drums, keyboards and vocals. At the end of term, whole-school rock concerts were organised and conducted by the bandleaders (with parents present) for the students to showcase what they had learnt. This extended her music pedagogy and was a new teaching environment – leading group lessons and furthering her tutelage of drums, guitar and bass.
Online tuition:
Private music tuition is now permanently online via Zoom, and has worked extremely effectively, particularly during the last seven months under the Covid restrictions. Existing pupils have found the flexibility and access to online learning increasingly advantageous, with the online interface offering some enhancements to learning more than the home visits had done previously. For example, with the consent of the student, lessons can be recorded for students to assist them with practicing between sessions, as well as interactive utilities embedded in the virtual platform that can ‘breakdown’ and make certain concepts easier to understand instantly in the lesson.
Hourly rate for sessions is £40.
