Music for an Occasion

At times of celebration and/or bereavement, music is often sought to console and act as an emotional outlet for people experiencing overwhelming feelings. Be it the first dance at a wedding reception, the dulcet tones of a hymn at a baptism, or a thoughtful addition of music in a funeral service, music can anchor the collective feelings of congregations in these situations.

“With music, one’s whole future life is brightened. This is such a treasure in life that it helps us over many troubles and difficulties. Music is nourishment, a comforting elixir. Music multiplies all that is beautiful and of value in life.”

Zoltan Kodaly – Hungarian composer, philosopher and pedagogue

Anna offers the following services to clients that request live music for their event/service.

WEDDINGS: Depending on each client, Anna can offer music at all stages of a Wedding Event.

During the ceremony, the Drinks reception and the Wedding Meal. For any of these sittings of music, the following can be selected:

Live-singing only (accapella/ to a backing track), live-singing with self-accompaniment on keys/guitar, instrumental music only – repertoire at the choice of the client. The client might wish to have a mixture of the above at each stage of the event, to keep the music and dynamic varied for guests. For the Wedding Parties, song requests can be open to guests, and a live band can be offered for the evening (at the clients demand) – typically including, vocals, keys, drums, guitar, bass/saxophonist (full ensemble).

CHURCH SERVICES (Baptisms/Marital Vow-Renewals/Funerals): Live performances can resonate beautifully in churches and add to a service. Anna has provided clients with live-singing in the church for funerals, marriages and baptisms, and has communicated with clients to find the right songs for the service generally, and can assist with leading the congregation in the hymns. Under the current circumstances of Covid19, Anna has modified her service to recorded music, converting files to MP3, which can then be played at the service, to avoid any unnecessary pressure on visitors in the volatile situation of the pandemic. This has worked extremely effectively and has great potential to be a service that continues once the regulations are softened.
